Carolinas, USA – The Carolinas Geographic Rugby Union (CGRU) is set to host the 2018 South Championships. The Championship weekend, scheduled for May 5th-6th, brings together the top twelve teams from the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, and True South Unions to decide which Men’s (D2 and D3) and Women’s (D2) teams advance to the USA Rugby East Region Championship. The two day event is open to bids from all affiliated clubs in the CGRU.

Interested hosts are encouraged to contact the CGRU as soon as possible. Potential host sites will receive a bid packet to complete and submit for review. The bid process will remain open for the next two weeks and the host location will be chosen by the beginning of March.

Host locations are expected to have:

  • At least two fields available for the matches
  • Third field and/or warm up areas for teams
  • Adequate parking
  • Bathrooms on site
  • Medical coverage and athletic trainers
  • Local hotel options

All of these factors are taken into consideration by the selection committee when choosing the host location. The host clubs will provide the venue and staff for the South Championship. The CGRU is providing match balls, trophies, and referee expenses.
